What we are:
Yarmouth Port Supper Club started about year ago. I was working in a high volume restaurant that made good food, but where real refinement just wasn't practical. It was a good job and I enjoyed the people I was cooking with, but I was bored…really bored. So on my nights off I would always make dinner for my friends and roommates (there were five of us in the house back then I think). It was a chance for me to really reconnect with food and remember why I got into this ridiculous profession in the first place. I could buy the best ingredients and baby each one. Pretty soon I was cooking four or five courses. The roommates started calling it “supper club”. Friends of friends started showing up. I was trying new techniques and ingredients that I couldn’t pull off in a high volume restaurant. One night as we were basking in our food induced comas, my friend Jim said to me, “dude you gotta start putting the menus up on facebook and getting a donation from everybody to pay for the food”. So I did.
What we do:
These days we hold dinners once or twice a month. Each event menu is centered around a theme (i.e. French night, sushi night, seasonal celebrations) and usually consist of 7-10 courses. Because we are not trying to turn a profit but rather just have a great meal with interesting people we only ask for enough money to cover the ingredients. So basically you get what would be a $150+ per person tasting menu for about $50-60.
What to expect:
Expect to have a great dinner and unique experience. Supper club is held in our home at 43 Union St. Yarmouth Port, MA. We serve 10-15 guests at each dinner, some groups, some couples and some single diners and we all sit together at a communal table. Dinner starts at 6:30 and typically lasts three hours from start to finish. Come hungry! BYOB
How to sign up:
Anyone and everyone is welcome from single diners up to groups of 15. Reservations are given first come first serve. To view upcoming menus or to sign up to attend, go to the “events” section of our facebook page. Please keep in mind that I buy all the ingredients out of pocket so please try to give me as much notice as possible if you have to cancel.
